mm, crackity crack

House stared at her. "Dimensional warp," he said, flatly.

"Yes," she said. "They're not very common even where I'm from. Dad's probably having a fit over it. Say, do you have any books I could use?"

"Books?" House managed, cursing himself for being caught off-guard.

"Yes," she said, impatiently. "Books. Flat things, generally, with two thick sides and thin pages in between. Used for imparting information? Look, even a pamphlet would do."

"Why the book?" House asked, recovering. It was damn disconcerting to be around someone who could catch him by surprise.

"Because," she said, somewhat more patiently, "I need to see if I can get to the BookWorld from here. I'm not sure if BookWorld spans the dimensions or if it'll be a different BookWorld or if there'll be one at all, but if I can read myself in, I should be able to do something about this damn allergy and quite possibly get home."

"Ipsum," Friday said firmly, agreeing. Thursday frowned but said nothing.

House rubbed at his forehead right between his eyes. "Right. Well, we'll get you a book so you can check that. In the meantime, we're going to poke you a lot with needles and so on."

Thursday laughed. "Of course. You're doctors and I'm a mystery."

House scowled and stomped out as best he could. It really wasn't nearly so satisfying to stomp these days, but it was better than nothing.
